BIG real estate news today. Two local developers, WVS and Fountainhead Development, have the former Reynolds Metal manufacturing facility north of the river, along 10th and Canal, under contract. WVS developed Rockett's Landing. Fountainhead Development has been instrumental in developing large swaths of Historic Manchester. The marriage of this high-rise construction + adaptive reuse/historic preservation expertise could be a marriage made in heaven. As with any development, we'll just have to wait and see the final plans, although the preliminary rhetoric all sounds good. I'm just glad the developers are local.
Now, my little adaptive reuse and tax credit/enterprise zone lovin' heart would be happy and complete if the Reynolds Metals SOUTH Plant, located across the river near the Suntrust Headquarters, could be developed into something amazing. A baseball stadium south of the river anyone?
